Ecodan heating systems

The outstanding benefits of Ecodan:

  • Designed for domestic use
  • 30-50% reduction in CO2 emissions
  • Low running costs
  • Easy to install - self-contained unit, requiring only water and electric connections
  • No gas supply, flues or ventilation
  • No need for groundwork or external pumps
  • Single phase power supply with a low starting current
  • Ideal for under floor heating or low temperature radiators
  • Low maintenance
  • Reduced VAT from 17.5% to 5% for domestic applications
  • Comparable installation costs to a modern gas fired condensing boiler
  • Low noise

The smallest capacity unit in our Ecodan range is the W50 which is 5kW and is perfect for use in new build applications due to their modern day thermal efficiencies. Able to work at variable capacities between 1.5kW and 5.2kW the W50 is ideal for many applications ranging from smaller existing homes or flats to medium sized newly built homes.

Currently the popular unit in our Ecodan range is the W85 which is proving ideal for use in both newly built homes and existing homes too. Able to work at variable capacities between 3kW and 9kW the W85 offers the widest scope to cater for the majority of applications.

Catering for applications with a greater demand for a more powerful unit is the HW140. With the potential to operate between 5kW and 14kW, our most powerful unit is perfectly suited to provide effective heating and hot water for larger, existing homes that do not benefit from the thermal efficiencies of today's homes. This unit is also available as a 3-phase option, please note the 3-phase model is not MCS accredited.

Ecodan Explained

Many have heard of ground source heat pumps and the high efficiency levels they can offer but few have realised that air source heat pumps can also offer significantly higher levels of efficiency when compared to traditional methods of heating our homes.Air source heat pumps are much easier to install than ground source so they are more suitable for a wide variety of properties from flats to detached houses.

The Ecodan air source heat pump system consists of an external box which is fitted to your outside wall. It harvests renewable, low grade energy from the outdoor air and upgrades this into useful heat to supply a home with hot water and heating. For every 1kW of electricity fed into Ecodan, you will get at least 3kW of heating energy.

It can work efficiently all year round even if the outdoor temperature should drop to -15C.

The Ecodan range of air source heat pump systems have been developed by Mitsubishi Electric specifically for the UK and bring advanced, inverter-driven technology refined in the commercial heating sector to your home.

The performance characteristics of Ecodan Low starting current All Ecodan units operate on a standard single phase power supply and have a low starting current of 5 amps, which reduces power requirement further still. In addition a 3-phase option is available on the 14kW unit. Low noise levels Crucial to residential applications, the Ecodan range offers some of the lowest noise levels available. Easy to install The Ecodan heat pump is a self contained unit which only requires water and a single phase power supply. Highest efficiency With the UKs ambient temperatures, Ecodan is perfectly designed to operate at optimum performance throughout the year. Ecodan can generate hot water up to 60C, it also has the ability to operate in the unlikely event of the outside temperature plummeting to -20C.
